The Why
Woodlake Unified already tracks attendance, contacts families, sends required notifications, and convenes SART and SARB. The purpose of this framework is not to add another program on top of that work. It is to make one part of the work consistent: the space between noticing a concern and referring a student.
Attendance data tells us who needs attention. Our intervention process should help us determine why — and what to do about it.
- Notification is a legal requirement. Intervention is a professional practice.
- Both can happen at the same time — but one does not substitute for the other.
- If a barrier is never identified, every intervention is a guess and no one can say whether it worked.
This framework supplements and does not replace legally required attendance notifications, timelines, procedures, or other applicable requirements.
