Prework and norms
Prework
- Team members: update the attendance outreach list with notes from check-ins before each meeting.
- Team lead: prepare and share the running agenda ahead of the meeting; add a new copy at the top for each meeting.
- Review the outreach tracker and identify students to prioritize for discussion today, if needed.
Norms
- Embrace “We vs. They” — center the conditions we've created for students rather than blaming students.
- Focus on the evidence — what can we learn from what we do have?
- Be curious, not judgmental. We are all here to learn and improve.
- Be concise. Share just enough, only what's most relevant.

Prompts
- Top reasons across the list this period — what's ranked #1, #2, #3?
- Which student groups are over-represented? (grade, classroom, bus route, sibling group)
- Were there weeks or days where absences spiked? What else was happening then?
- Is there a structural fix — bus route, class period, recurring health barrier, communication breakdown — to escalate?
